The FAN Token Ecosystem
The Fan Access Network and FAN Tokens are going to revolutionize the experience of being a sports fan, and the FCFL will be the first league built on and powered by the Fan Access Network. But how does the FAN Token ecosystem work?
How the Fan Token
Works in the FCFL
- First, you need to start with some FAN Tokens. Every fan who registers a Fan Account with the Fan Access Network will have a small amount of FAN Token seeded into their FAN Wallet. The FAN Wallet is an easy-to-use wallet that lets you manage your FAN Tokens – it’s technically a cryptocurrency wallet, but you won’t have to know anything about cryptocurrency to easily and safely manage your FAN Tokens. For the FCFL, you’ll be able to access and manage your FAN Wallet and FAN Tokens through the FCFL Mobile App.
- FAN Tokens unlock your ability to control your favorite team by voting in a couple of crucial ways. The first is transparency – since every vote made with every FAN Token will become a part of the blockchain, there will always be a permanent, public and indisputable record of every vote. You’ll always be able to trust that you and your fellow fans control every decision that gets made.
- The more FAN Tokens you have, the more voting power you have. If you want a more powerful vote, that’s where our public token sale comes in. It’s your one and only opportunity to purchase as many FAN Tokens as you want to make sure that YOUR voice is heard loud and clear from the very start. In the FCFL, FAN Tokens will power your votes on everything from picking your team’s name and logo to drafting players and calling plays.
THE FIRST IMPLEMENTATION OF FAN TOKEN
A New Pro Football League
Where The Fans Call The Shots
The Fan-Controlled Football League (FCFL) is exactly what it sounds like:
a real world sports league where the Fans are in charge. It's like Madden in real life.
Built on the Blockchain and designed to combine the passion of live sport, the competition of fantasy sports, the engagement of video games, and the global reach of esports, the FCFL is the first pro sports league truly created for the digital age.
How it Works for the Fans:
Like in a video game, FCFL fans will earn FAN Tokens as they prove their ability to help manage a real team. The fans at the top will have the power to draft the players, design the play book, call the plays in real-time and win cash, prizes, and bragging rights.
Through the interactive streaming experience, fans will be able to select plays in real time which get sent to the digital playbook wristband that the QB uses to call them in the huddle.
How It Works for the Players:
The FCFL isn’t very different than other traditional leagues, except that instead of having hometowns, our teams are all built around having fans across the globe. All 8 teams will be based in a single city and play in a massive production studio where we can control the experience.
- 7 on 7, fast-paced, high-scoring football
- 8 teams – 18 man rosters
- 1-hour games, start to finish
- Minimized overhead with league-wide shared services across all teams
SALT LAKE SCREAMING EAGLES
Proof of Concept
In 2017 we proved the fan-run model with the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles of the Indoor Football League. We partnered with both Amazon’s Twitch and Sports Illustrated, generating hundreds of thousands of streams and play-calls via our mobile app from fans across the world. The fan-run offense was one of the most high-powered offenses in the league and our quarterback was named Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Fans Across The World Unite
“Ball is life” is a real emotion for hundreds of millions of people on Earth and the global community of sports fans is larger than the entire population of China and the full span of Christianity. To say it another way, sports fandom is bigger than the world’s biggest country and most popular religion.
The market opportunity for FAN Token distribution across the sports industry is tremendous. And when we consider the size of the various markets that converge into the concept of fan-controlled sports its even more exciting.
In North America alone the fan and revenue numbers for the top gaming and sports leagues are quite impressive:
Fantasy Sports Players in the USA in 2017 who spend an average of $653 each on games last year
video gamers, many of whom play EA’s Madden which alone has generated $4bil in sales since the game franchise first launch
eSports enthusiasts which helped fuel a quickly growing $700mil global market in 2017
American Football fans which led to the NFL delivering $13bil+ in revenue in 2016

What are FAN Tokens, exactly?
FAN Token (which stands for Fan Access Network) is an ERC20-compatible Smart Token built on the Ethereum blockchain. FAN Tokens will be the lifeblood for a new form of deeply fan-centric professional sports leagues where fans are tasked with making all operational decisions – from scouting and signing personnel, to strategizing for upcoming games, to calling plays in real-time. This is accomplished via crowdsourced, decentralized votes that are housed on the blockchain to maximize transparency. The first iteration of FAN Token usage is the Fan Controlled Football League (FCFL), a professional American football league set to kick off in 2018. To learn more about the FCFL specifically please visit the league’s homepage.
Each fan’s token stack, along with their level of engagement, will determine the power of their vote for their team’s decisions: the more tokens a fan owns and the more tokens they have earned, the more weight their vote will carry. Fans are able to earn FAN Token through various touchpoints across the FCFL network (and future leagues to come), including successfully calling plays (especially plays resulting in scores), participating in votes and operational decisions, interacting with sponsors, creating and consuming content, and more. For a limited time, fans can gain access to FAN Tokens through our upcoming public token sale.

What is this token sale?
To help spread token ownership and raise awareness for Fan-Controlled Sports, we will be holding a public token sale for fans looking to gain early access to voting power for the upcoming season. The official public sale of FAN Tokens will be in late March or early April of 2018.
On December 23rd, 2017 The FCFL officially closed its pre-sale of FAN Token, and we surpassed our goal of $5 million. The ten-day campaign was the first token sale ever hosted by crowdfunding leader Indiegogo (in conjunction with MicroVentures) and garnered attention from the likes of the New York Times, Forbes, and CoinDesk. In addition to the public sale, fans can join our bounty program to get a head start on earning tokens. We are continuing to run a private pre-sale for fans interested in buying a large quantity of FAN Tokens ahead of our public token sale: please contact us directly in case of interest.
Is this real? Like, is this ACTUAL professional football?
Yup! This is real football featuring guys who have been on NFL rosters, been through NFL training camps, and played high-level college ball. We have several key members of the FCFL family with direct NFL experience, including co-founder Ray Austin, who played safety for the Chicago Bears and New York Jets, and is a proud Tennessee Volunteer (don’t ask him about the current head coaching position in Knoxville). In addition, senior advisor Andy Dolich is the former Chief Operating Officer of the San Francisco 49ers, and senior advisor Manish Jha is the former General Manager of Mobile Operations for the NFL.
The FCFL’s prototype was the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles, an organization in the Indoor Football League whose offense was run entirely by fan voting and ended the 2017 season ranked third in the league. The quarterback of the Screaming Eagles, Verlon Reed, was named rookie of the year. We are now taking this experience and applying it to an entire league. Real football; real fan engagement.

Will FAN Token be listed on any exchanges?
Legally we cannot comment on exchange listings. FAN Token is a utility token created to empower fans of the FCFL (and all future leagues). We are focused on creating and adding tons of additional uses for the FAN Token to greatly increase it’s utility value in the future. Adding more fans, more teams, and more leagues to the Fan Access Network will contribute to increased demand for the FAN Token and the utility value it provides in the network.
For more information, please see this post from CEO Sohrob Farudi about our goal to lead a new era of compliance and best practices within the token world.
So tokens affect voting power… what else do they do?
FAN Tokens are the lifeblood of the fan-controlled sports engagement engine, and like a videogame, your tokens can be used for a variety of transactions, including unlocking additional content, procuring merchandise, or gaining access to exclusive events including sideline viewing of games. We will even maintain a public leaderboard where fans will compete to see who is objectively the most successful owner/GM/coach, and the highest-performing fans of the championship-winning team will share in the $1,000,000+ purse.
Why do fan-controlled sports require a token-based system run on blockchain technology?
The benefits of tokens run on the blockchain are really twofold.
First, and perhaps most obvious: tokens are an inherently useful tool in the videogame world. They are a mechanism to incentivize and reward engagement (particularly successful engagement), demonstrate aptitude, and ultimately create outcomes. Pokemon Go uses tokens to drive users to evolve their collection of digital warriors into more advanced specimens; Madden uses tokens to let users unlock new content such as retired players; Fan-controlled sports use tokens to literally enhance each fan’s voting power. Tokens are distributed to fans who engage – by calling plays, drafting players, negotiating trades, etc. – and the more tokens a fan accumulates, the greater weight is placed on their vote when the final decision is tallied. And like videogames, tokens can be exchanged for tangible outcomes, such as merchandise or in-stadium experiences.
Second, there is the seamless transparency provided by a network that sits atop the blockchain. For fan-controlled sports to work, we need full transparency – we need fans to have full confidence that their votes are in fact driving the action. And not just the fans; we will have hundreds of players and coaches whose jobs will be in the hands of this fan-controlled network. It is critical that we have 100% buy-in from all parties involved. Blockchain solves this issue of trust.
Blockchain provides public transparency for a network rooted in decentralized voting. We can show that what fans voted for is what fans get. Trust in the vote is CRUCIAL to this system working.

Why should someone participate in token sale?
The token sale will be the only instance where fans can purchase voting power directly from the league. Moving forward, FAN Token distribution will be rooted in engagement. In addition, fans who participate in the Token sale will get early access to league operations like designing teams and league structure, accumulate voting power right off the bat, and have their voice heard as the league takes shape.
How else can I acquire tokens other than this sale?
ENGAGE! Once the FAN Token sale closes up, the only way to acquire Tokens from the FCFL and all future leagues will be to actively take part in league operations. Call plays, scout opponents, write a review of the past week’s games; there are many touchpoints through which fans will be able to accumulate FAN Tokens. The more you prove your worth as a owner/GM/coach, the more you will be rewarded with FAN Tokens demonstrating your sports aptitude.
When do we get to watch fan-controlled sports?
