The FAN Token Ecosystem

The Fan Access Network and FAN Tokens are going to revolutionize the experience of being a sports fan, and the FCFL will be the first league built on and powered by the Fan Access Network. But how does the FAN Token ecosystem work?
  • First, you need to start with some FAN Tokens. Every fan who registers a Fan Account with the Fan Access Network will have a small amount of FAN Token seeded into their FAN Wallet. The FAN Wallet is an easy-to-use wallet that lets you manage your FAN Tokens – it’s technically a cryptocurrency wallet, but you won’t have to know anything about cryptocurrency to easily and safely manage your FAN Tokens. For the FCFL, you’ll be able to access and manage your FAN Wallet and FAN Tokens through the FCFL Mobile App.
  • FAN Tokens unlock your ability to control your favorite team by voting in a couple of crucial ways. The first is transparency - since every vote made with every FAN Token will become a part of the blockchain, there will always be a permanent, public and indisputable record of every vote. You’ll always be able to trust that you and your fellow fans control every decision that gets made.
  • The more FAN Tokens you have, the more voting power you have. If you want a more powerful vote, that’s where our public token sale comes in. What are FAN Tokens, exactly?

FAN Tokens will be the lifeblood for a new form of deeply fan-centric professional sports leagues where fans are tasked with making all operational decisions – from scouting and signing personnel, to strategizing for upcoming games, to calling plays in real-time. This is accomplished via crowdsourced, decentralized votes that are housed on the blockchain to maximize transparency.

 

Each fan’s token stack, along with their level of engagement, will determine the power of their vote for their team’s decisions: the more tokens a fan owns and the more tokens they have
earned, the more weight their vote will carry. Fans are able to earn FAN Token through various touch points across the FCFL (and future leagues to come), including successfully calling plays, participating in votes and operational decisions, interacting with sponsors, creating and consuming content, and more. For a limited time, fans can gain access to FAN Tokens through our upcoming public token sale.

Is this real? Like, is this ACTUAL professional football?

Yup! This is real football featuring guys who have been on NFL rosters, been through NFL training camps, and played high-level college ball. We have several key members of the FCFL family with direct NFL experience, including co-founder Ray Austin, who played safety for the Chicago Bears and New York Jets, and is a proud Tennessee Volunteer (don’t ask him about the current head coaching position in Knoxville). In addition, senior advisor Andy Dolich is the former Chief Operating Officer of the San Francisco 49ers, and senior advisor Manish Jha is the former General Manager of Mobile Operations for the NFL.

The FCFL’s prototype was the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles, an organization in the Indoor Football League whose offense was run entirely by fan voting and ended the 2017 season ranked third in the league. The quarterback of the Screaming Eagles, Verlon Reed, was named rookie of the year. We are now taking this experience and applying it to an entire league. Real football; real fan engagement.

Will FAN Token be listed on any exchanges?

We will not be soliciting the listing of FAN Token directly on any exchanges. FAN Token is a utility token designed for the specific purpose of engaging with the FCFL network. To own FAN Token is to be an active fan of the FCFL.

So tokens affect voting power… what else do they do?

FAN Tokens are the lifeblood of the FCFL engagement engine, and like a videogame, your tokens can be used for a variety of transactions, including unlocking additional content, procuring merchandise, or gaining access to exclusive events including sideline viewing of games. We will even maintain a public leaderboard where fans will compete to see who is objectively the most successful owner/GM/coach, and the highest-performing fans of the championship-winning team will share in the $1,000,000+ purse.

Why do fan-controlled sports require a token-base system run on blockchain technology?

The benefits of tokens run on the blockchain are really twofold.

First, and perhaps most obvious: tokens are an inherently useful tool in the videogame world. They are a mechanism to incentivize and reward engagement (particularly successful engagement), demonstrate aptitude, and ultimately create outcomes. Pokemon Go uses tokens to drive users to evolve their collection of digital warriors into more advanced specimens; Madden uses tokens to let users unlock new content such as retired players; the FCFL uses tokens to literally enhance each fan’s voting power. Tokens are distributed to fans who engage - by calling plays, drafting players, negotiating trades, etc. – and the more tokens a fan accumulates, the greater weight is placed on their vote when the final decision is tallied. And like videogames, tokens can be exchanged for tangible outcomes, such as merchandise or in-stadium experiences.

Second, there is the seamless transparency provided by a network that sits atop the blockchain. For the FCFL to work, we need full transparency – we need fans to have full confidence that their votes are in fact driving the action. And not just the fans; we will have hundreds of players and coaches whose jobs will be in the hands of this fan-controlled network. It is critical that we have 100% buy-in from all parties involved. Blockchain solves this issue of trust.

Blockchain provides public transparency for a network rooted in decentralized voting. We can show that what fans voted for is what fans get. Trust in the vote is CRUCIAL to this system working.

Why should someone participate in token sale?

The token sale will be the only instance where fans can purchase voting power directly from the league. Moving forward, FAN Token distribution will be rooted in engagement. In addition, fans who participate in the Token sale will get early access to league operations like designing teams and league structure, accumulate voting power right off the bat, and have their voice heard as the league takes shape.

How else can I acquire tokens other than this sale?

ENGAGE! Once the FAN Token sale closes up, the only way to acquire Tokens from the FCFL will be to actively take part in league operations. Call plays, scout opponents, write a review of the past week’s games; there are many touchpoints through which fans will be able to accumulate FAN Tokens. The more you prove your worth as a owner/GM/coach, the more you will be rewarded with FAN Tokens demonstrating your football aptitude.
